It’s Christmas lights season! And if you are looking to end 2023 on a seriously bright note, there are hundreds of places around Perth and beyond featuring fun, festive displays for the whole family.

Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail

The Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail is back in town, lighting up the City and Northbridge for 47 nights with 22 amazing light installations. You can walk the full trail to see all 22 installations or take the new family-friendly route, ‘The Merry Mile’.

Wanneroo Botanic Gardens

Each year the Wanneroo Botanic Gardens’ Christmas wonderland gets bigger and bigger, running from November 29 until January 8, 2024. Head out there in the late afternoon for some fun on the mini golf course and around the spectacular grounds, before enjoying tens of thousands of Christmas lights covering five acres the beautful botanic gardens! Subiaco Twilight Trail

Every night from November 23-December 31, six large-scale Christmas light installations will illuminate the heart of Subiaco as part of its festive Twilight Trail. Providing plenty of photo opportunities, this merry and bright trail will feature a giant golden tree, glittering reindeer and more.

City of Vincent

City of Vincent is getting in on the Christmas light fun this year with new interactive decorations and lights around the town centres. There’s trees lit up in Leederville and along William Street, while Axford Park, Mary Street Piazza, North Perth Common and Braithwaite Park all feature great walk-through decorations perfect for family photos. They’ve even created a handy little map for you – check it out along with more info here.

Best Streets For Christmas Light Displays

Samson Court – Duncraig

There are some really creative displays on show down at Samson Court in Duncraig, with pretty much the whole street joining in on the action. You’ll see snowmen, reindeers and even a sneaky elf or two alongside all those flashing lights. Plus, keep those eyes and ears peeled for the home with the huge 45,000 LED light show sequenced to music—they’ve been doing it since 2016 and it’s one of the best Christmas light displays in Perth.

Consulate Court – Thornlie

At a property that has been lighting up Christmas for over 30 years, Consulate Court, is filled with vibrant lights adorning the house, roof, eaves and garden, along with a multi-coloured Christmas sign, a seat with a light backdrop for photos, and the warmth of a community coming together for a wonderful cause, with donations going to the Child Cancer Research Foundation.

Williamson Avenue – Cloverdale

One of the best Christmas lights in Perth for 2023, 159 Williamson Avenue is lit with over 30,000 lights. Featuring a life-sized Santa’s throne, reindeer and a play-friendly sleigh for kids, the large display also features Santa on the chimney, a life-sized snowman, an igloo with a peek-a-boo window and an abundance of Christmas trees. All the decorations are made by hand and from scratch, reflecting the owners’ deep appreciation for the joy of Christmas.

Aromatic Crescent – Atwell

With some 10-odd years of Christmas lights under their belt, this Atwell home at 6 Aromatic Crescent is another great stop on your festive drive. The front yard is filled with heaps of inflatables and flashing lights in every colour.

18 Maitland Rise

A Santa sleigh, snow machine and bubble machine, as well as cameo appearances from Bluey and the Grinch throughout the month, make this Christmas light display in Woodvale an absolute stand-out for kids of all ages. They’ve been running for a few years and have always raised funds for different charities but this year it hits closer to home—all donations will be supporting Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (PCHF) in support of a former neighbour and family friend, Luca, who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer at just three years of age. Thanks to the team at PCH, she beat the odds and is now looking forward to celebrating her seventh birthday.

Bauer Street – Cannington

Explore this large light display at 7 Bauer Street, complete with music, a nativity scene, a snowman, lights hanging from the eaves and a walk-in display to view it all up and close. Supporting Autism WA, it also features a Lights Colouring Competition, a 3-meter sleigh and a snowy wonderland. The display has been running for about five years and the owner sets up the display to bring the community together.

Palmer Crescent – High Wycombe

This massive display at Palmer Crescent, features a symphony of lights of all colours decorating the entire house. With music, moving features, interactive displays, inflatables and even a walk-in display, what sets this apart is the showcase of Australian favourites like kangaroos, koalas, wombats, reindeers and Santa. Bring the kids to enjoy the festive hunt for Santas and one mischievous elf.

Kennack Vista – Atwell

This Atwell home is sporting a stunning multi-coloured light display this year. Just picture sparkling walkways under enchanted trees, large inflatable Christmas characters, music and automated lights synched up to match. If you rock up on weekends or closer to Christmas, you might also catch a magical snowfall.

Malleefowl Way – Alkimos

Head to 8 Malleefowl Way from 8pm to 10pm throughout December and you’ll find nearly 30,000 dazzling lights, synchronised to enchanting holiday music. Tune in to 99.9FM or enjoy the show through outdoor speakers as the lights dance to create a symphony of colour. Capture the magic with the angel wings backdrop for festive photographs and a memorable summer holidays.

Anacapri Road – Hillarys 

With a life-size dancing Santa and fireplace, lights over the roof, garden and lawn, and music and laser lights for dancing, the owners at 6 Anacapri Road encourage people to walk around the garden displays and take selfies with Santa. You might even be lucky enough to see one of the famous elf hat shows and bubbles or even that naughty Grinch caught in action trying to steal the lights.

Hargreaves Road – Coolbellup 

This newly improved display features a walk-through experience with added lights, Santa’s throne, a photo booth and a delightful array of wooden cut-outs. What makes the home truly special is a cherished 25+ year-old wooden Santa, decorating its third house and continuing to spread Christmas joy. The owners at 22 Hargreaves Road, after a month-long setup, take joy in seeing the happiness the display brings to others.

La Salle Road – Alexander Heights

8 La Salle Road invites you to touch, play and explore. Enjoy interactive elements like music, bubbles, a tree to decorate, a photo-worthy sleigh, a festive array of Christmas hats, cuddly teddies and magical Christmas glasses. Visit from 7:30pm to 11pm throughout December and don’t forget to check out the Who-ville display and Richmond Tigers Christmas Tree.

Yorn Circuit – Beeliar

Enjoy fun with the family from 7pm to 10pm at 33 Yorn Circuit and while it’s only a medium display, there are plenty of activities! See Santa’s workshop, light displays on the roof and eaves, angels and inflatables. Take a selfie with Santa’s sleigh or the snowman, try the 4-in-a-row Christmas tree or the Grinch bean bag game, or play the 6 holes of the Christmas-themed mini golf! All fundraising goes to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Wem Mews – High Wycombe

Lighting up 31A Wem Mews from 7pm to 9pm each night, beyond the nativity scene, snowflake-adorned roof and vibrant lights, what sets this display apart is its computerised musical and animated show, seamlessly blending modern tunes with traditional static lights. Experience over 80 popular pop and Christmas songs harmonised with dynamic light patterns, creating a unique, ever-changing nightly performance. All donations go towards the homeowners’ chosen charity, Ocean Heroes.

Kirn Close – Willietton

Visit the captivating Christmas lights display in Perth at 16 Kirn Close, with interactive elements, a 4-meter Christmas tree and handmade scenes by the owner. With a Frozen-themed highlight over the past three years, including a whimsical Santa fishing boat and Santa train, this festive wonderland, complete with beloved characters and dazzling Christmas trees, offers a visually stunning experience for the family while supporting Dementia Australia.

Darlington Loop – Pearsall

For over 20 years, this large Perth Christmas light display at 8 Darlington Loop has lit up the night, showcasing a unique walk-in display of a Lemax collectable village in the garage and vibrant roof and garden silhouettes. Lights are on from 7:30pm to 11:30pm, with all fundraising supporting the Royal Flying Doctors.
