Spring is here and provides the perfect time to prepare your garden for warmer weather.
Our drying climate continues to call for a united response. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, 2015 was the equal warmest year in 117 years, and most of the metropolitan area experienced lower than average rainfall.
Top waterwise tips for your garden are:
- Plant waterwise plants – use the Water Corporation Waterwise Plants directory to find plants that will thrive in your area of WA.
- Mulch your garden beds – applying good quality waterwise mulch will also greatly reduce evaporation from soil.
- Prepare your garden – apply a wetting agent and soil improver to help water penetrate to the roots of plants where it is needed most.
- Only water once on your rostered watering day – either before 9.00am or after 6.00pm. Before 9.00am is best as it allows the water to soak to the roots and be available to the plant throughout the day when they need it most.
